|Persei – Vape Vitals|
|Battery Style||18350 3.7v Li-Ion(2)|
A revolutionary vaporizer for the true connoisseur, Persei allows you to vaporize liquid or solid concentrates anywhere and anytime. Experience pure flavor from start to finish with the new KISS Cartridge, a ceramic wick and titanium coil atomizer. Persei is the more powerful, bigger brother to the Omicron.
Revolutionary KISS Cartridge
The KISS Cartridge was specifically designed from the ground up for solid concentrate use, unlike other portable concentrate vaporizers that are typically comprised of re-purposed e-cigarette components. Experience pure flavor from the first draw to the last.
See User Guides below for full usage information.
Using Your Persei
From W9 Tech:
Warning: Please understand that this is a TOMV (Tool of Mass Vaporization) If not used properly it will damage cartridges, It will leak if you miss use it, it will clog if you over use it, think of it as a race car. It will do what it is intended to do, but will break if you do not know how to use it. Please do not purchase this device if you are not experienced with these types of vapes.
A full visual instruction manual is available on the ‘User Guide’ Tab, but here is a quick usage rundown:
Charge up your 18650 or 18350 battery(s) until fully charged. The first time you charge them it could take up to 8 hours. (What the difference between the two battery setups? We have a FAQ for that.) Subsequent charges will only take 2-3 hours. Adjust the battery spacer in the bottom of the Persei’s body until either battery setup just exceeds the top of the body with the top off. See User Guide visual description of this.
There are two different kinds of atomizer cartridges available for your Persei. The KISS single-session atomizer, and the standard tube cartridge, which holds much more than the KISS, but has a more complicated filling process.
Filling your KISS Cartridge
Before first use its best to prime the atomizer to remove all manufacturing oils, etc, from the coil. Before you add any concentrate, run the Persei for two seconds, then let it cool for 10 seconds. Repeat this process once.
Using the included tool , apply a small amount of concentrate to the top of the atomizer coil in the ceramic crucible(white). If the atomizer is room temperature, Press the button just enough to heat up the wire slightly, maybe 1-3 seconds. This melts the concentrate slightly and makes sure it’s adhered to the coil.
Replace the mouthpiece and the Persei is ready to use, or can be set aside for use later. (Note: If using later, make sure that once the Persei is loaded, that it does not sit in the sun, a hot car, or any extremely warm situation. Cool temps are BEST for the Persei. )
Press the button, and the blue ring surrounding it should illuminate. Heating begins instantly, the only thing left to do is draw slowly and surely, letting go of the button a few seconds before the end of your draw.
Filling your Tube Cartridge
The tube cartridge is filled with the included funnel. Attach the funnel securely to the open end of the cartridge, and align it so that the open sections of the funnel tip match up with the open sections of the cartridge. (See User Guide for visual description) Screw the cartridge into the top section (with no batteries attached). Use the top section as a base to hold your funnel/cartridge combo.
Place your liquid or concentrate(only those that melt cleanly) into the funnel, and then with an small hand held butane torch, gently heat the funnel, melting the material until it slides down into the cartridge, heating lower as you go.
Use caution not to overheat at this point. You just want the metal to be warm, which is enough to allow the materials to become pliable enough to let gravity do all the work. It only takes a small amount, go slow and don’t rush it.
Stop heating once you feel the material is settled into the bottom of the cartridge, and allow it to cool completely before you remove the funnel. Once the funnel is removed, clean if needed and store.
Place the mouthpiece into the cartridge, then press the button and the blue ring surrounding it should illuminate. Heating begins instantly, the only thing left to do is draw slowly and surely, letting go of the button a few seconds before the end of your draw.
If using later, make sure that once the Persei is loaded, that it does not sit in the sun, a hot car, or any extremely warm situation. Cool temps are best for the Persei.
The KISS Cartridge
When simplicity is what you seek, look no further than the KISS cartridge. W9 removed all unnecessary parts and incorporated a ceramic wick specifically made to absorb liquids. The KISS is a load & go cartridge, meaning that you only load enough for one session at a time. Open it up, load it, close it and its ready to go. It comes with a tool to fill the crucible with concentrate, and replace mouthpiece. Its ready to go!
Standard Tube Cartridge
The Standard Tube Cartridge is designed for longer journeys, as it holds far more than the KISS cartridge, up to an entire gram at a time, potentially enough for 400 draws. While it offers the convenience of not having to reload after every session, the trade off is a more complicated loading process, and occasionally priming the tube to unclog it.
Both the KISS and Standard tube cartridge use a titanium coil atomizer wrapped around a ceramic wick, and excel with concentrates the melt cleanly and leave no particulate behind. When particulate makes contact with the atomizer, it can overheat. That produces carbon buildup on your atomizer coil, and will degrade the lifespan of your cartridge exponentially.
Vaporization is ruled by Ohms’s Law. Normally this isn’t something we ever worry about or need to discuss with desktop or portable vaporizers, but with Pens, its absolutely required knowledge if you want to have full control over your vapor quality. That’s what the Persei is all about; not just vaporization, but also full vapor customization.
Ohm’s law states that the current through a conductor between two points is directly proportional to the potential difference across the two points. Introducing the constant of proportionality, the resistance, one arrives at the usual mathematical equation that describes this relationship:
where I is the current through the conductor in units of amperes, V is the potential difference measured across the conductor in units of volts, and R is the resistance of the conductor in units of ohms. More specifically, Ohm’s law states that the R in this relation is constant, independent of the current.
Ummmmm….SO WHAT DOES ALL THAT MEAN?
Okay. You have a power source(your pen’s battery) connected to a conductor(the power switch) which is then connected to the wound coil of the atomizer. The atomizer in its simplest form is just a resistive wire strung between two metal posts.
So, to recap, the power flows like this:
Power Supply —–> Switch —–> Atomizer
When you press the switch on your Persei, power(current) flows from the battery, through the switch, and to the atomizer coil.
The wire in the switch is conductive: it allows the electrical current to pass right through.
This electrical current then hits the atomizer wire. This coiled wire in the atomizer is made from a metal wire that does not conduct electricity, rather it resists it. This wire doesn’t allow the current to keep flowing…it acts as a roadblock. But as you keep pressing the button, more current(power) arrives, it builds up as it can’t go any further due to this resistance; but it has to go SOMEWHERE, so it builds within that coil, until it escapes as heat.
That heat is hot enough to vaporizer your concentrate.
So…lets bring things full circle back to the original question what the differences between the ratings on the cartridges are, and more importantly, why you should care
Regarding Ohm ratings, and this is important, something you will be glad you know when you buy replacement cartridges, the lower the number, the higher the resistance. Lets review the equation again.
Higher resistance equates to higher levels of heat, but to repeat, with Ohms, the lower the number, the higher the resistance. So a 1.4 Ohm Cartridge has a low number, or value, but high resistance, and high heat. A 5.0 Ohm cartridge has a higher number, so it will have a lower resistance, and lower temperatures.
Why does this matter to you?
All of this information allows you to completely customize the vapors that your Persei can produce. Are the draws too thick and dense? Or perhaps you want more flavor that lower temperatures allow? Different voltage/Ohm combinations will allow you to tweak the vapor quality until find your sweet spot!
On the Persei, if you want lower temps, go with a higher cartridge rating of 4.0 or 5.0 Ohms. Want thicker denser vapor? You want to look at the 1.5, or 2.4 Ohm versions. Of course, the 3.0 Ohm rating his the sweet spot for many.
* A proper scientific explanation this is not; we highly suggest reading more about Ohms Law if you are interested in more of the actual science involved. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohm%27s_law
With a fully charged battery and brand new empty cartridge, press the power button for five seconds. This allows oils to burn off. Allow this to cool. Blow away any vapors that may have been produced.
For the KISS cartridge, apply a very small amount of concentrate to the top of the coil, and turn the Persei on for one or two seconds(no more) until the concentrate just melts into the wick. Repeat this process until the wick is fully saturated.
For the Tube Cartridge, fill as normal. Then turn the Persei on for one or two seconds(no more) until the concentrate just melts into the ceramic wick. Repeat this process until the wick is fully saturated.
It is a variable voltage vaporizer, capable of the following outputs:
A single 18650 battery is going to output 3.7v, whereas two 18350’s that occupy the same space will both output 3.7v for a total of 7.4v. Always reference the below chart to ensure your cartridge battery combination works correctly together. Note that using a cartridge outside of the recommended range can cause damage to your unit and void the warranty.
Allowing the Persei to heat up a for a few seconds before drawing will create a slightly denser vapor. The rate at which you draw will also dictate the vapor thickness. Draw faster, and the vapor will be thinner. Draw slower, and the vapors can be slightly thicker.
When using the KISS, its vital to only load as much as you would need for one session. Overfilling can effect the performance of the KISS cartridge.
W9 Recommends filling the Tube Cartridges with up to an entire gram. Its recommended not to use small amounts.
Cleaning & Maintenance
W9 Tech recommends replacing each cartridge after it has consumed 1 gram, which is how much each one holds.
We don’t recommend cleaning the cartridge after use, its far tastier to replace them!
If any liquid has made it on to your Persei body, simply wipe off with a damp cloth.
Always make sure your vaporizer is COMPLETELY dry before using it again.
Do not attempt any internal or external repairs to your unit as doing so may cause fatal injury – or worse – void your warranty! (Please contact us if you feel something is wrong with your vaporizer.)
The KISS cartridge can last until the atomizer coil breaks down. Consistently using higher quality concentrates will prevent buildup in the crucible. Cleaning inside the ceramic crucible is not recommended. You could damage the coil or crucible very easily.

Getting the Most Out of Your Persei
- Never leave your Persei in the Sun or a warm car. Ever. This essentially guarantees that the cartridge will leak.
- Re-Read previous point. Twice. 2x.
- Its best to remove the cartridges from the body when traveling or in transit. This ensures they cannot be accidentally discharged if the batteries are loaded and something contacts the power button while moving. It also helps protect the cartridge.
- Do not freeze a filled cartridge. This could damage the atomizer.
- Cold temperatures will cause the battery to deplete faster than normal. If you are headed outside in cold or freezing temperatures, keep the Persei body in a pocket inside your coat, and the cartridges in a pocket on the outside of your coat. When ready to use, warm the cartridge up with your hand, or ten minutes inside your coat.
- Pre-fill a cartridge or five and take them along with you! Just make sure the extra cartridge(s) stays cool.
The Persei can be maintenance free with proper use. When a cartridge is empty, replace it.
If any dirt, debris, liquid or concentrate finds it way on the body of the Persei, wipe it off with a warm damp cloth.
Protect the cartridges while transporting. Any debris that falls into the cartridges is difficult to remove, and renders the cartomizer a hazard to use.
Wrap the Persei’s funnel in paraffin or parchment paper when not in use. This will keep debris away from the sticky interior of the funnel.
Need Assistance with your Persei?
Try these Solutions to common issues:
Remove the batteries and place in the included charger and charge until full.
Remove the batteries and place in the included charger and charge until full.
Even titanium coils are susceptible to failure and will need to be replaced eventually. Atomizers will last 4-5 weeks before they need to be replaced.
What is occurring is that when not in use, the Persei’s cartridge becomes cool enough for the concentrates to solidify. They only become a liquid when heated, so in between uses this liquid re-solidifies, completely blocking the airpaths in the bottom of the cartridge.
Clearing this blockage is easy and can happen multiple ways.
One method is to just turn the loaded Persei on for ten seconds, then let it rest for five seconds and see if you can slowly draw until the blockage is released. Its vital to draw slowly. If the blockage remains, turn the Persei back on and then immediately begin drawing SLOWLY but with effort. This should clear the blockage.
Once air starts flowing, expect a sudden burst of vapor.
Another method that is more time consuming but doesn’t require as much drawing just to clear the cartridge.
Remove the cartridge from the body and hold it in your hand tightly for one minute. Try and make as much contact with the cartridge as you can. This allows your body heat to transfer directly through the metal and aids in softening/melting the concentrate.
After one minute, re-attach the cartridge to the body, and press the button to heat the atomizer. Air should flow right away. If it does not, continue to hold the button down a few more seconds, and the blockage should clear.
